DESTINATION: CFO; Financial Executives Surveyed Find Satisfaction in Top Job

MENLO PARK, Calif., May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Becoming a chief financial officer (CFO) is a career pinnacle for many finance executives, and it's where most of those who've reached it want to stay, a new survey from Robert Half Management Resources suggests. More than half (57 percent) of CFOs interviewed said they are satisfied in their current role, while 18 percent said their next career move will be retirement.

The survey was developed by Robert Half Management Resources, the world's premier provider of senior-level finance, accounting and business systems professionals on a project and interim basis. It was conducted by an independent research firm and is based on interviews with more than 2,100 CFOs from a stratified random sample of companies in more than 20 of the largest U.S. metropolitan areas.

"The CFO role comes with wide-ranging responsibility and accountability, as well as a high level of job satisfaction," said Paul McDonald, Robert Half senior executive director. "Today's financial executives influence all areas of their organizations, from operations to information technology to human resources."

"Many executives whose next career move might otherwise be retirement are pursuing consulting or interim CFO roles to continue earning income while also gaining a flexible schedule and diverse project opportunities," added McDonald.
