OfficeTeam Names Deborah Carter of Florida Seventh Annual Administrative Excellence Award Winner

MENLO PARK, Calif., July 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Deborah Carter, administrative assistant at Hoyman Dobson CPAs in Melbourne, Fla., has been selected as the winner of the 2011 OfficeTeam Administrative Excellence Award. This is the seventh year OfficeTeam has partnered with the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) to recognize an administrative professional who demonstrates a commitment to leadership and professional development and identifies business efficiencies. Other supporters of the award include CareerBuilder, Dress for Success, MeasureUp, OfficeArrow and SkillSoft.

Two additional professionals also were recognized as runners-up for the award. Patricia Patterson of EMHS (Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems) in Brewer, Maine, and Kathleen Sjovall of Booz Allen Hamilton in Herndon, Va., were honored for their contributions to their employers and the administrative profession.

"The Administrative Excellence Award nominations received this year are outstanding and illustrate the value administrative staff bring to their organizations each day," said Robert Hosking, executive director of OfficeTeam, a leading staffing service specializing in the placement of highly skilled administrative professionals. "OfficeTeam congratulates Deborah Carter and the other honorees for their dedication and drive."

Carter was honored on July 26 at IAAP's International Education Forum & Annual Meeting in Montreal. More information about the nomination process, judging criteria and prizes can be found at www.officeteamaward.com.

There were many factors that contributed to Carter's selection as the Administrative Excellence Award winner, including her dedication to improving efficiencies, streamlining processes, and helping her directors and peers make the most of their resources. For example, Carter took the initiative to learn Microsoft Office Suite 2007 before her colleagues and then trained others on its use. When Hoyman Dobson implemented software for a paperless work environment, Carter worked closely with the information technology department and quickly became a go-to person for questions regarding the new system. She also proposed that the company use Skype to conduct interviews with long-distance job candidates and recommended consolidating the firm's mobile phone contracts with various carriers to one corporate plan. These suggestions have saved the organization time and money.

In addition to the contributions she makes on the job, Carter is a longtime board member and past president of the Central Brevard chapter of IAAP. She is committed to professional development and holds the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) designation. She also gives back to her community by participating in the United Way's Emerging Leaders program.

"The International Association of Administrative Professionals is proud to recognize Deborah Carter for her remarkable achievements," said Mary Ramsay-Drow, CPS/CAP, international president of IAAP. "Her enthusiasm for lifelong learning makes her a role model among her peers."

Both runners-up also have displayed their enthusiasm for ongoing education by pursuing certifications. Patricia Patterson holds the CAP rating, and Kathleen Sjovall is a CPS (Certified Professional Secretary) and CAP holder.
