Survey Reveals New Technology Greatest Driver Of Change In Administrative Profession
Shifts in Company Benefits, Staff Size Also Affecting Support Staff

MENLO PARK, Calif., April 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Technological advances are making a mark in the workplace -- and on the administrative field -- a new OfficeTeam survey shows. Nearly half (48 percent) of senior managers interviewed said new technology has had the greatest impact on administrative professionals' jobs in the past year. Changes in company benefits and reductions in staff size tied for second, each with 18 percent of the response.

The survey was developed by OfficeTeam, a leading staffing service specializing in the placement of highly skilled administrative professionals. It was conducted by an independent research firm and is based on telephone interviews with more than 300 senior managers in the United States at companies with 20 or more employees.

"Administrative professionals are often at the front lines of implementing new technology at work and teaching others how to use it," said Robert Hosking, executive director of OfficeTeam. "In addition to helping companies adapt to hardware and software updates, support staff are regularly going beyond the call of duty to address an array of business challenges."

Hosking added, "It's not uncommon for administrative professionals to jump in to assist with everything from communicating changes in company benefits to taking on extra projects when staff levels decline."
